For those that don’t plan to make ski bumming a long term thing....yes, landlords check credit ratings.

The only one arguing, as usual, is you. I was giving my 2 cents from my experience. |

Lol, thanks Brownski. This might shock you, but I'm pretty sure I have a plan figured out and I don't need your help. Happy to talk about it on a chairlift with you if you're actually interested, though. As far as the dirtbag vs. Glam-bum conversation, RA's right. #Vanlife or bust. Option 5, in the original poll. |

I haven’t had a problem and strangely my credit score is good. I totally walked away from 10 k of credit card debt years ago. The banks gave up and haven’t heard a thing.

Let's hear more about this injury that made you quit ski bumming. Seems relevant to the conversation about freedom, what happens when you get injured, and medical costs. |

Is this a new sales technique? Just encourage people to not pay their debts? |

It may not be the best plan.
And yes, I’m definitely an aging dirt bag ski bum. I’ve never had much to lose. In fact, coming from my back ground anything seemed like an improvement and I ran out of NJ as fast as I could to go ski powder. So some good and some bad. I didn’t ask for any of the shit I was born into but it’s what I got and I did the best with it. But, I do know freedom. So good that I know 99% of people don’t. |

True story. |

Shit, man, I could have a really good summer (and winter) with $10k of free money. I'd love to hear more about this, too. Sucks that the student loan debt that you racked up doesn't work the same way, I guess. |

New??? Nah man it's been around for a long time. I wasn't encouraging anyone, we all make our own decisions. I was merely pointing out the facts. |

They can’t take anything from me when I’m dead.
I’m not scared. My last run of credit card debt was for lawyer fees to secure my time with my daughter. It ended up costing about 35k. |
Here's the part where I point out that if I said the things that camp and RA just did, JTG would attack me as a freeloading, good for nothing hippy who doesn't deserve shit because he stole things from venerable business owners and refused to pay. But he won't say that about them because... reasons. I, like the Lannisters, always pay my debts, but maybe I should just stop paying them. I wasn't aware that behavior was so commonplace on these forums. |
|
What did we say?
|
You said debt goes away in 7 years and that knowledge has always been an underground sales tactic? RA said he had $10k he didn't pay and a bunch of other debt that he may or may not pay. |
|
No, I had 10k left in debt that I walked away from. I wasn’t making enough to pay those bills any longer and then I went to school.
In JTG’s or in a lot of people’s mind I may be a freeloader but they don’t know what Ive been through or why I’ve made these choices. I new I was gonna be F-d going into court but I had no choice. My credit or ability to rent an apartment ain’t shit compared to leaving my daughter without her real dad. That’s where the x was taking it. She went nuts once she found out I was getting serious with a 21 year old blonde. |

LMFAO!! Underground sales tactic?? No. It's a well known fact. Ask your local banker and they'll tell you the same thing. In fact it's the law. Late payments can only show on a credit bureau for 7 years, BK's show for 10.

I hear you. I guess it depends on what you are renting, and how badly the landlord needs to rent it, whether or not credit is an issue. When we got my daughter an apartment in Boston this past year (last year of school) I had to co-sign and provide my soc.
