!!!!!!

Looks like I'm headed to Plattekill. Any idea what the rates are gonna be?

Or is the zoo at Kmart with 8" new on top of 8" old gonna be better?
Decisions, Decisions.

Actually, I don't think that's much of a decision at all.

Power is out so ill keep it short.

Spoke to laz last night.  He wants to spin but it depends on snowfall and whether the power stays on.

We agreed to connect tonight.  If phone doesn't die or power comes back I will post.

Would love to know what's happening in NJ. I can get email so post in the storm speculation thread.

Anyone know if the road issue NYDOT lists for rt. 30 ("Reported By:NYSDOT: local access only on NY 30 in both directions from Town of Blenheim")  is actually an issue if I'm trying to get from Saratoga to Plattekill tomorrow morning?  I'm trying to find another route and can't find anything that doesn't add a lot of travel time.

Radam, there's been an ongoing detour there since Irene.  Not snow related.  Sometimes the road is open 1-lane, other times they detour you around.

I figured it was Irene related since I thought I remembered seeing a sign for it while driving on 88 one time.  Any idea how far the detour is when they send you on it?  Hoping to not get too backed up tomorrow.

I have heard it can be a bit wandery, but it's marked.  I haven't personally driven it, but my company sends delivery drivers through there frequently.

Laz:  we are skiing.  Got 12-14 on top of what fell which was about 6 although some melted.

Funny story behind this message.

ml looking less likely that I can make it but will try.

Well I made it.  It's was an epic tale in some good ways and some bad ... But ultimately will go down as extremely memorable.  The TR will have to wait as we still dont have phone/cable/internet.

Since this is the Plattekill conditions thread, I'll at least do that.  Six inches from Thursday and twelve from last night, with some windload under the double chair, which started to spin at ten.  Was very cool to ride NY's first chair of the season.  (Believe me Laz was all over it and felt the $500 in electricity was worth grabbing the honor even though there were only 15 skiers on the hill.)

Headwalls were extremely difficult for me and I took.some.spills trying to turn.  Ml242, Fuje, and Njfreeskier skied with incredible finesse.  They looked like they were skiing on much deeper snow.

Below the headwalls and the blue trails were hard work due to the windloading but very skiable. It was heaven to be back on skis.

Fuje and ml242 skied with real cameras and I think we got some sweet shots with some boulder hucks and spraying powder.

When I get some access to the interwebz, I'll post for real.

Plattekill had 4" overnight. Flow could be conducive to more:

Yesterday Platty was amazing, 100% open, which included all the natural trails. Of course there in places was a um "grass" base but the snow was great and the vibe awesome. Today too -- though the hill lasted longer than I did. And it was quieter than Saturday....
