Plattekill Conditions

Yesterday morning at Plattekill was pretty nice.  I can neither confirm nor deny that the closed trails were heavenly, especially in the morning.  Tons of people; lots of Jerrys. Cars parked 1/2 mile down the road.  Good day for Laz. I left at 1:30, after skiing straight for 4.5 hours.  Oh, I did run into the lodge at one point to grab my rock skis.    

3" on the backend Sat night and the mountain was skiing pretty nicely today, especially considering the lack of natural snow and fluctuating temps this season. Trail count is still a bit low...at least the open trails.

Great to hear the mountain is in "decent" shape given the season in southern NY. Now we just need some help steering this week's round of storms a bit more inland.

It's amazing how much more snow at Plattekill vs even the bottom of Creamery Road.  There was a lot of good snow around.

The mountain was basically 100% open. Natural snow trails were the best, barely touched the groomers after first tracks.



Trees could use a foot.

J WITNESS MONEY DAY

Saturday night I asked myself if I really wanted to make the effort for 14 trails.....I should’a known better.  Glad it was good.  Friday could be a really good day if Ullr comes through Wed/Thurs....

Excellent day today! There was an underlying firmness everywhere which left all the rocks covered over nicely, and about 6" of fresh on top. Snowmaking on Block today as well. Patrol had it sort of roped off on the double side entrance but not on the triple side entrance. About half way down I ran into 4 disgruntled patrollers who directed me off the slope onto Bailout. "The rope is not a suggestion" they said. The part I got to ski was actually really good. Skiers left outside of the snow guns was really good. I guess their policy is getting tighter.

Freefall was also good today. First time this Szn

Nice but where are the pix? I've never seen Plattekill before.

I heard OZ was in. Very cool.

Mountain is basically 100% covered, especially the double side. Always amazed at how much more snow they have than their neighbors. Many sections of trees covered enough to slide through. All trails stayed open this weekend and Laz had some whales piled up and ready for the warmup this week so hopefully they don’t lose too much!

Been watching those cams all day haha I’ll be back at Platty both days this weekend. Hoping for the best Saturday with a buddy and Sunday should be a sweet spring day with a the whole gang. You coming out?

I get one day this weekend.Trying to decided between some new potential snow on Saturday or a warm Sunday.

In a bunch of (non-ski) ways Sunday is way better for me so there is that.

I'm trying to decide between Saturday & Sunday, too.

I love Platty, but the deck scene at Gore is so good on warm spring days.

Unless 6 inches + falls I bet Sunday is the better day conditions wise. Saturday is the ski patrol fundraiser BBQ and torchlight parade etc. so gonna try hang around for that should be fun!
