Spring Weather 2018

I hear ya.  Question becomes....push to ski this weekend, or cool the engines and look to ski all that snow later in April.....assuming one can’t do both!

Any idea how the BC is holding up in them thar hills?

Locked up tight.  Trails from Adk Loj still skiable.  Trail from garden parking lot is not.  Alot of open water in drainages.  

Damn....decisions...was hoping to get up there this weekend for some spring skiing (i.e. not 20s!) but not sure if worth the drive.  Next week starts work travel impacting two weekends in a row...

My last opportunity to ski the east may be Tucks last weekend in April on my way to another biz trip in VT.

So many ADK BC goals not done this year yet...

Yeh never been late season...would be worth it if some ppl were getting together to ski/tailgate

Coaches for my son reported WC worthy snow and decided to start training again
If you are coming up bring carving skis and tune them

Think ADmiKe and I skied WF in May many years ago. I'm sure he remembers the year. It dumped and we chased it as I recall.

I'm planning on it after my Tahoe adventure next week in conjunction with work...unfortunately looks like the spring skiing around here may be better here than out there next weekend on account of this rainy AR event today and cooling temps. We shall see though.

I normally make it to K once in April and then again in May to rendezvous with a group of people I met from back when I lived near Boston from AlpineZone. Would be down to meeting up with some NYSB folks too if there's something going on.

Really! This shit isn't funny anymore --- it has snowed every single day for the last week and was snowing this AM --- 2 of my friends bought new boats so I blame them

I wanted one last weekend at WF of spring skiing - oh well
Open snow is showing 9-20" for WF for Saturday night thru Monday.  Sounds like it will be very altitude dependent and will rain hard at bottom.  

Bah!  Was hoping it might be possible to get one day of great WF spring skiing in on Sat but that doesn’t look likely.  You guys could have a great Sunday morning if they happen to get a foot of snow Sat into Sun.  Freezing levels will be moving sharply and precipitation types could be all over the place, but this one doesn’t necessarily look like a rain at the base/snow at the summit kind of event, especially with a warm nose aloft.  Safe to say it ain’t gonna be warm and sunny.  Other than that it’s a crap shoot....but if the high pressure to the north wins out and the surface boundary shift south quick enough you might get a powder morning on Sunday before it transitions back to rain.  Maybe.

I take it you don’t think WF will go a few weekends only after the 15th?

Summit will reopen when it thaws, can't get a snowcat up there with the blue ice.

If the weather looks nice they may open an additional weekend.

Open Snow has been over estimating snow and wind all season...  I’d be stoked with 20 inches Sunday morning though!  

You have zero creditability with any reliable WF sources....

 

Def 2001.

WF got over seven feet in the month of March that year.  Storms rolled in every thursday including the first two weeks of April.  

First weekend of March was 50” followed by two three footers, a two footer and then two 12-18 inches in April.

I know the mtn was open at least every friday-sun through April and reopened on Tuesday May 1 for one May Day.

2001 was the epic year!!
