Jason... if NYC is the ideal storm track for the Daks, what is best for the Cats?

depends on storm size , speed etc...sometimes the current storm track is good for the cats , sometimes the nyc one is...
the cats like the adk's aren't exactly snow magnets...

Hey Jason, would you say that because the upper low was so strong it actually drew the coastal low inland as opposed to it bombing further south and east. What I was watching last night was that the circulation and pressure drop was strongest just west of the city and then the snow there began very wet. That was why I thought it was going to stay more north and west than the others were saying. Still wish I could be skiing it today. A-Basin is calling for some snow and warmer weather but not bottomless fluff

timing is so critical in these situations..if the low starts getting it's act together 2 hrs later the eastern boys hook up..
i assume you are referring to NYC? the temps where hovering around freezing most of the day.. lows tend to move towards their upper low , i guess the models just couldn't handle such a intense 500 system , thus the inconsistencies from run to run.. warm days at A Basin can be fun too..

Warm is a relative term since it has been around 0 for a while out there. Right around 30 +/- each day with mountain snows
I can handle that...although you should be at Plattekill or Belleayre today...I thought about it...Catamount would be pretty sweet today and those other ones over the line in the Berkshires but I won't mention them on NY Ski Blog ![]()

It's called BS... I think Hunter should walk away from this storm with at least another 4 inches. This storm also has a bit denser snow so it should be good for building a soft base.

About 5" in Saratoga at 7AM, with 2-3" accumulating all day with steady light snow. Still snowing this evening. Radar shows heavier snow east of NY.
