I've been spending a TON of time trying to win an account back from our competitor...
A rouge piece of software is making our database look bad so we're after the partner that makes this software to fix their crap...  Not easy - customer is already 90% off our platform...  We'll win this back..

Good thing is it's NYC - so I can take a train!!! WOOOHOO!!!

I spend about 40% of my time on the road for work.  I do a mix of driving, Amtrak and US Air.

Business travel is not the glamour that people think it is.  I do try to do something enjoyable when time permits.  I'm in in Rochester now and came from Binghamton.  Instead of the direct route I took the scenic route thru the Finger Lakes and stopped at a winery to pick up a few bottles.  It made my day a little nicer but then I had 3 hours of email to get thru tonight.

I'm in an incredibly beautiful place and I'd rather be home with my family.

Best to you Coach.

Which winery did you stop at?

Herman Weimer

That is my favorite Finger Lakes winery.  Old school German wine maker.  Great Riesling.

Pretty amazing trip.

Duty calls, I think more drinking is required.

Did you use Google Maps to find your way there?

The bikes are very cool.

Google is nuts in many ways.  The place is just oozing cash.

But there are some really cool things about the company.

If you have an electric or plugin car you get a primo parking spot with free electricity.  Most people seem to take the free shuttles they provide to get to work.

More later.  Now I got to board the damn red eye. Hate flying, it's the worst.

For someone who is supposed to be retired - I have been traveling a lot for "work" over the past few months. Austin, Tx, San Jose, UK, Geneva, SLC, Houston, and coming up - Hawaii, Denver, Vancouver, NH.

Had this presentation hanging over my head all last week on vacation, all summer really, and nailed it.

I started this thread because I hate traveling, especially for work.

Peetex are you doing  a consulting gig on your own or for your old company?

Harv - nice find.  When I have the time and opportunity when traveling for work I find it helps to occasionally visit some nice local or even tourist spot or go to a ball game.  Recently visited Salem MA when in Boston which was a nice place to take an evening walk and have dinner.

It's a mix. I think I am mostly done for the year though. Although I will need to go out to San Jose in a few months to help a fledgling startup - gratis.

I've been working with a really exciting start up with a new medical device the last year or so.  Getting closer to launch mode.

About 10 years ago I helped a surgical tool company on a design and later they were sold to a huge company and it now is our biggest customer.  Start ups gave some risk but really is where the hot new stuff is designed.

I can report the new America Airlines sucks way more than the old US Air.

Been stuck in DCA for 6 hours.  Cancelations aplenty on a perfect weather fall day.

Nothing better to do than waste time arguing with a cool aid drinker.

Haha. I'm in Owego, NY for a job. I'm assuming you were talking about me, arguing with you, the cool aid drinker.
