Anyone interested in some good food together with tele lessons? Please help spread the word about a 4-day tele clinic in mid-March in Lake Placid. The clinic includes lodging and farm-to-table meals at the Round Lake house on the campus of North Country School, pretty much across the road from Mt. Van Hoevenberg. The hosts and instructors are John and Libby Doan, who are on the NCS faculty.
John and Libby converted my daughter and her classmate to tele fans several years ago. The two kids were advanced alpine skiers when they started at NCS in 7th grade. In 8th grade, the Doans took them and a few others to the Telepalooza at Plattekill. The kids had a ball. I learned to ski on the rope tow mentioned that's part of the NCS campus. Been playing with my daughter's tele gear lately.
As an aside, John is the head of the Music Dept at NCS. His recent CD is called Welcome to Cascadeville and includes a song called "Waiting for Snow."

Whether you are a first time telemark skier or an experienced free-heeler, we can expand your skills through multiple terrain options on and off campus in the heart of the High Peaks Wilderness Area.
Hosted by PSIA Telemark education staff, and North Country School (NCS) faculty, John and Libby Doan, participants will have access to Whiteface and Mt. Pisgah resorts, as well as a private 25-trail system and rope tow in the shadow of Pitchoff Mountain. Equipment rentals are available through NCS and local ski shops. Depending on the skill levels in the group and conditions, a short backcountry ski trip may also be available.
Rates include all meals and drinks, activities, and lodging. Ages 21+ only.
