Alpine Meadows and Squaw 2/2-2/3

We got the 2 day lift tickets from Liftopia for Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley for $99. Great deal!

We really loved Alpine Meadows. We found some nice north-facing steeps, chutes and trees with dry chalky snow. We had a great day there on Thursday. Friday we went to Squaw. We didn't really like the sprawling resort with only blue icy groomers and lots of people. So after navigating across the resort in the morning, to where we were told the best skiing was (Shirley lift) and didn't find much in the way of steeps, vert or even good snow, we decided to bag it and go back to Alpine Meadows.

Alpine Meadows was my favorite of Alpine, Squaw, and Northstar. Granted I hit Squaw on what was probably their worst day that year, it was stilll pretty horrible.

We also loved Kirkwood and Mt Rose. Rochester Mark and Rippa Sister are headed back to Mt Rose today.

The conditions are not improving anywhere and we've skied 5 days in a row and don't feel it's worth paying $80+ to ski on a busy Saturday. We are right near xc ski trails, so today the rest of us are going to take it easy, do a little xc and enjoy our lovely vacation home for the last day.

Tahoe ski areas have some excellent terrain. We are going to have to come back when the snow is good. Then we'll just plan to ski Kirkwood, Alpine Meadows and Mt Rose. No need to go anywhere else.

Hoping there will be some snow back east upon our return.
