For sure I'm overreacting. Just can;t get over how terrible they looked...friggin pathetic!! As a Giant fan my expectations are set low , but our offense wasn't even close to being on the same page....totally different zip codes. I'm down on Cruz. I didn't see the hustle from him we're used to seeing. The money got 'em....he's "arrived" and seems to be playing with nothing to prove. |
Lions have talented skills players. Eli is surrounded by mediocrity.
Cruz def went soft once he got his big money contract. He was terrible last night just like last season. As NJ pointed out he was wet blanketed by a rookie. When he did break free he dropped two very catchable balls and then stood and watched the safety pick off an, albeit, less than stellar pass. I mean GO UP and CATCH the ball at its highest point Cruz. That's taught in pop warner. And Beatty was terrible both pass and run blocking. just awful Eli has no play makers. D wasn't as bad as the score looked. But if I was Perry, I would be worried cause that zone coverage he's working is awful. Doesn't matter if you hold a team to 3rd and 8 if they convert easily cause the zone is Swiss cheese. 2 out of the last three year's Giants #1 picks not on the field.... Need to do a better job in the draft. How about a receiver that is over 6 feet tall! Eli is a champion! I hope he doesn't get injured given he's surrounded by mediocrity.

Certainly the offense has looked better with each game (look back to the beginning of this thread where I mentioned that weeks 1-4 of the regular season are the "real" pre-season).
Anyway, there were some play calls, however, that I would definitely question. 1. 2nd quarter, driving nicely, first & ten and you throw a long pass down the middle of the field. Why? You had been moving the ball VERY nicely, why did you need to make the long pass attempt? Result ... punt on that set of downs. 2. 3rd quarter ... one again, driving the ball nicely down the field with a 17-3 lead and 6 minutes remaining in 3rd quarter with a 3rd and 2. Play call ... 15 yard pass down the left sideline ... result ... incomplete and punt. Once again, situational awareness ... at that point in the game, the first down was all you needed ... you didn't need to try for a "big" play ... bad decision. 3. 4th quarter ... in the red-zone with a 17-10 lead, facing a 3rd and 2. This is a CRITICAL point in the game ... you MUST come away with points, so ball security should be the primary concern. Play call ... short pass over the middle ... result ... ball deflected at the line and almost intercepted. If that ball had been intercepted, I suspect the Giants probably would have lost the game ... VERY BAD DECISION. 4. 4th quarter ... in the red-zone with a 27-10 lead and less than 4 minutes remaining ... Just run the ball to keep the clock running, and/or force Houston to burn a timeout ... a field-goal is just fine here ... it's the clock that matters ... situational awareness ... play call ... pass in the right corner of the end-zone ... result ... incomplete ... clock stops. Bad decision and completely unnecessary. Overall, I like the offense that McAdoo has been calling, however, so far, I'm beginning to become concerned about decisions like those above.

Wow. You should buy him a keg after that performance. Eli w 4TD tosses? And where the hell did that tight end come from. He was a UDFA?
Hey look Mikey! We're talking about football! Perfect excuse for you to come barging in here with references to boring old cultural stereotypes! 'Cus' that's your thing. |
Man_0_man was I pissed at Cruz last night. Yes, he certainly made some good catches, but that first down pass he dropped early on was pathetic......those are the ones a true super star catches.....and he had an easy 10 or so yards after the catch. If we didn't get that turnover right after that we could've seen a different game. That big ass tight end of ours had a boss game.
2 and 2 I owe you a beer Face I think Mikey is eating a bowl of dick stew |
ELI Manning!
cautiously optimistic.... that was a weakened Washington team coming off a battle against the Eagles. Home against the Falcons then on the road for Philly and the Cowgirls...... 4-3 be good at the bye, but 5-2 would be better.... ELI Manning!!!!!!!

Agreed. They are looking very good right now, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Still some play-calling that I wasn't completely thrilled with, but at the point in the game where those came up, the game was already over anyway, so no big deal. I think there's still a little KILLDRIVE in there that needs to be knocked out completely!!! On one of the 3rd and 2's, they went with an empty backfield formation and I almost through my phone at the TV!!! But overall, the play design has been outstanding ... liberal use of the tight end ... short passes of 3 - 4 yards that get turned into 8 - 10 yards. This is the way to play in today's NFL. Having your QB stand in the pocket for 4 - 5 seconds, waiting for a receiver to get open down-field just isn't the right answer ... KILLDRIVE never understood that, or simply didn't care. Eli has to be getting his confidence back, which was the biggest problem he had over the last two seasons ... KILLDRIVE's approach didn't enable Eli to be confident when he dropped back to pass ... he was always in the pocket for too long, and he was always trying to complete balls to receivers downfield (NIcks) who were never really open.

on andre williams' running style - "...be the hammer, not the nail!"

Andre Williams may very well be the draft choice of the year! That man is dangerous

Getting nervous ... starting to see some bad habits creep back in ...
Taking the play clock down too low, too often ... Two timeouts to avoid delay of game penalties ... Not as many short passes ... none to the tight end ... Empty backfield formation on 1st and ten and on 3rd and 2 ... These are the kinds of things that will eventually come back and haunt you!!! Defense really stepped it up in the second half ... that was nice to see!!! And, what's up with the special teams? How many kickoffs have they returned from INSIDE THE END ZONE this year and NOT made it back to the twenty, plus two fumbles on kick returns (that's kick returns not punts). I think they need to consider taking a knee on ALL kickoffs received in the end-zone until they can get 1) better blocking or 2) a better kick returner.
