Avalung Backpack, Money Well Spent

I saw tBatt's post about upgrading to an Avalung next season and then coincidentally came across this article:

I assumed the avalung was buying you crucial minutes, but... this kid survived THREE HOURS buried with the help of an avalung.  I would never have imagined that to be possible.

Sadly his companion died.

I can't imagine being encased in ice for three hours. I wonder how changed you would be upon being rescued and thereafter?
