Bad accident at MRG

Brownski
Saw this on FB, anybody know anything?

"PLEASE....SKI SAFE EARLY SEASON!!!! No need to get after it yet. It's a long season.

As word trickles in about yesterday's accident at MRG, it's a reminder to be safe and be patient with these early season conditions. STAY OUT OF THE WOODS, THERE IS NO BASE! Nasty stuff is lurking inches below what looks epic.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the young man that was heli'ed to Dartmouth Hitchcock after fracturing C-7 with no feeling below his armpits. Please say a prayer for him as he has a long road to recovery.

Be safe, have fun and ski humble early season. -RASTA"

I heard rumor of the accident. I haven't heard any details yet but I assumed it was a woods skiing accident which the quote above supports. My only major skiing injury was a broken elbow skiing woods that were not quite ready (though the accident itself was caused by a binding issue which could have happened on an open glade just as easily). I've become very cautious with early season trees. I saw a few guys duck into the woods at Jay yesterday and I kinda scratched my head because the snow on the trail was still so good. Tough figuring out when they are ready but I think without a solid frozen base, you need at least three feet and even then proceed with major caution.

Major bummer on the injury, I hope he pulls through okay.

Terrible, that will change your life and all those around you. I hope he regains mobility.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.
