With all the rain NEPA got Thur into Fri 1.5 inches, my expectations of a good ski day Sat were limited. The drive to the Catskills took extra long, due to the runoff from the rain, freezing on the side of the roads. About halfway there those spots disappeared and what we found was a fresh coating of snow from the day before. Winter was still in full swing at Belleayre and early cold temps and wind made the first laps hard to bear with out being fully covered up. The snow was gritty but that allowed it to hold up, most of the day, to pretty heavy traffic. Coverage on the trails and in the woods seemed to be at their winter peak. If you like Skiing Belleayre heading there Sunday would be good choice!
Cathedral Brook Had lots of untracked lines still left and skied nice.We skied the trails the detach serves early ,with no wait early ,once the crowds arrived we utilized the other 2 slower lifts with never more than about a 5 minute wait.
This Sat we where here for the Denis Germain memorial race on Lower Yahoo. Denis was a fire fighter killed on 911. His family and friends do a great job keeping his memory alive and raising money for his foundation.
Belleayre's super Tony Lanza was even out racing and were enjoyed our time chatting with him.
BELLEAYRE delivered another great ski day.
