And many others.
Schussmeisters, UB's ski club had ran out of money. Holiday Valley wants more money mid-season an Schuss can't afford it. Sooo now I can't ski there Friday nights anymore. Instead we get to go to KB which is about 2/3 the size and not nearly as nice. To: The Members of Schussmeisters Ski Club, Inc. and the University at Buffalo (SUNY) community I would first like to apologize to our dedicated and loyal members that have been keeping Schussmeisters Ski Club, Inc. in business for the past 50 years. It is amazing how this club has been able to survive such a drastically changing economic climate throughout the past five decades. Unfortunately, as of late, the economic crunch that many Americans have been feeling has finally touched home. As of Saturday Feb. 5, 2011, Schussmeisters Ski Club, Inc. will no longer be skiing at Holiday Valley. The Board of Directors understands that a large amount of our membership greatly enjoys the benefits of being able to ski at Holiday Valley on Wednesday and Friday nights. However, with the financial strains the club is feeling we had to make rather drastic changes to services we provide and also the way we operate. These changes were wide‐spread throughout our office ‐‐ positions were cut, office expenditures were cut almost to zero and many small things that we hoped could add up to cover the extreme costs of skiing this year. After the amazing ski season that has hit us this year, these cuts were not enough to save the club. Luckily for Schussmeisters and all of its members, Kissing Bridge has saved us by taking it upon themselves to help us remain a club for not only the rest of the season, but also for future years. They offered not only to pick up Wednesday and Friday nights after Holiday Valley refused to help us, but are allowing us to offer our members $10 lift tickets for friends of members on these two nights starting Wednesday Feb. 16, 2011. In addition to that, they are teaming up with us and Red Bull to throw Winterfest on Saturday Feb. 26, 2011. We know that this change in schedule was not anticipated, but you must understand that our choice was either to drop Holiday Valley for the rest of the season ensuring our members still received seven days of skiing each week, or end skiing mid‐February altogether and close Schussmeisters doors after 50 years. I am sure many of you have questions. The Board of Directors and I would be happy to answer anything by calling us at our office at 716‐645‐3100, through e‐mail at schussmeisters.ski.club@gmail.com or by stopping by our office at 360 Student Union. Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience to our members, but we hope that you will understand that this decision was to guarantee the best opportunity for our members this year and to ensure that this club will be around next year to continue providing benefits to our community. Sincerely, Anna Oakes, Chairman Schussmeisters Ski Club, Inc. |
I don’t get it. Did your club have a predetermined price at HV and they backed out of the deal, or did they (HV) raise their prices half way through the year. Just confused what happened.
Guesss the bright side is you still have a place to go ski, right?? |
