Brave new knee

Peter Minde
Wondering if anyone in the community has gone through micro fracture surgery and/or cartilage replacement for the knee.  Doctors one would recommend in the NYC metro area?

I know a number of people that went to HSS had all were very pleased with the outcome. That's what they do.

When I had shoulder surgery, I went to NYU as it was in my insurance plan and was also pleased.

If you have the option stick with one of the big NYC hospitals and seek a doctor that specialized in legs.

I'm curious about cartilage replacement. I had mine removed about 45 years ago - there were no replacements back then.

Good luck.

It's actually called bio cartilage.  Surgeon talked about layering it on top of the condyle (if I have the name right) in addition to micro fracture.  He said there would be a 50-50 chance of total success.  Figuring I should do something now, before I need a total knee replacement.  Gonna get at least one additional opinion.
