We arrived at Breckenridge and had to put shorts on. It was in the high 60’s and sunny. The first ski day was sunny and 25 at 8:30 and it got up to 55 for the high. By 10 am the corn set up nicely and they opened up the T-bar and Imperial Chair. Then a rain shower came thru but it avoided the high elevations. It was pretty cool to be skiing in the sun and looking down at the rain on the lower slopes of peak 9.
Sun and rain from the summit
The Imperial terrain was pretty rocky but we were lucky to get up there as later in the week it was not open because the temps dropped and it did not thaw out.

On day 2 Imperial did not open but the T-bar was nice. We got a bit of a scare when my son got separated from me up there and tried to find me but ended up getting himself lost on a bowl the ran out of snow. He had to hike himself back to the runs.
On day 3 we tried to ski the T-bar but it had not thawed out and were rock solid bumps. The 4th day was even cooler with corn low but the high elevations never opened. Mostly the skiing was nice groomers in first thing and then softening to nice corn by late morning and slop by 2 pm when it was time to pull the plug. We got in lots of vert and mileage but it was not really demanding skiing. The day we left it snowed 10” but we had to go down to Denver for our flight. A nice relaxing way to cruise out the end of the season for me and my family.
The view from the top
Breck is a great town with a nice vibe and good restaurants. The problem is that it is so darn high as Poindexter pointed out in their TR. I had no trouble skiing 1000 vert without getting out of breath but sleeping was a whole different deal. Sleeping at 9600 feet is tough as is digesting a good meal. I had bought a ticket to the Breck Beer Fest the last day of our trip but after only an hour of the beer fest I was 3 sheets to the wind. Double IPA’s and altitude do not mix well.
