Bring Back Noah John

Harv,  I'm sure you're not unaware.  Responsible?  Hard to say......it is your baby.  I've watched it grow out of skiadk, and I genuinely enjoy it enough that I check in from 150 miles away or so.  But we (you and me or you and anybody) are not really equals in this community.  Not sure there is an apt metaphor, but we are all on a bus trip and you are driving?  Cocktail party where you are the host?

Not necessarily advocating for Noah John the hermit, but his tolerance level for this type of bs would be lower than most.  Certainly lower than yours.  I think a lot of ski forums run out of interesting pontification and catharsis (the stuff I search out in these places) once everybody actually starts skiing, and so there is probably some of that going on here too.  I was just agreeing with MC2 that it seems sorta like a dead end circle around here.

I'm not really looking to be part of a community that has to collectively give someone the silent treatment or anything like that.  And I don't want to wade through online detritus from another forum for answers.  I guess I want to outsource the bullying to the party host or bus driver or maybe even some real life bully in the back of the bus.

I haven't said anything one way or the other about NJ. I don't understand the "outrage" shown on his behalf as much as I could understand his behavior here. I did see him chase off a few other posters, they hadn't contributed much yet but he certainly bullied them to the point where they said "I don't need this" before they could ever show what they had.

Witch Hobble, you seem like a very thoughtful person, and I like your analogy. Let's say you wanted to throw a cocktail party, and one of your friends' friends was an acquaintance that you didn't need around. You wouldn't invite them, right, as an adult?

Let's say you did feel peer pressure or something, and did invite them hoping for the best. During the event they throw a drink in your face, piss on the rug, then touch all the food with their grimy fingers, since they obviously didn't wash up after urinating. Leaving without so much as a sorry, do you invite the brute again next year?

I can sort of see why people like NJ, he is witty,  intelligent, and when he is not directing his vitriol at you it's easy enough to ignore. But if you're Harvey trying to curate the best and fairest cocktail party, is it worth looking the other way?

As a nobody in this fight, that's just how I've observed the equation over the years.

I think these guys are just standing up for a friend who they've skied with in real life over many years and don't see the other side of the story. I've only skied with a handful of people here but I'd like to think that I could share turns with almost anyone. NJ just wouldn't make the cut, along with very few other people (regardless of ability or home mountain ;)  ).

Sorry, trying to keep this on the up and up, I don't think this place needs any more shouting.

Snowballs, get a fucking grip!  How many names can you call me in one post?  I only joined up in 2012.  66 posts isn't exactly lighting the place up, but I also haven't skied in New York during that whole time.  I'd venture a guess that my signal to noise ratio is at least as good as yours.  Quantity doesn't = quality

You're also right that when everyone KNOWS they will get hammered for saying something "stupid" you get less stupid stuff. In part because you get so much less input in total.  It may be a similar number of posts, from fewer posters.

There's a very good reason I give sno crap about Mountain Creek, and you know exactly what it is.
