Caberfae Peaks, Mi 11/29/19

Thanks to Harvey for putting me in touch with Stuart Winchester from The Storm Skiing Journal Podcast who now lives in the Northeast, but grew up and cut his skiing teeth in Michigan. He happened to be in Michigan for Thanksgiving and the U of M/ Ohio State game, so we decided to meet up at Caberfae. Wasn’t sure how the snow would have held up after the rain we got on Tuesday night and it also didn’t get as cold as forecasted on Thursday Caberfae wasn’t able to blow any snow to freshen things up. Looking at the hill when we got there it looked like there was lots of dirt spots, but all it was is leaves that got groomed into the snow

We were pleasantly surprised on how the snow was, if was firm, fast and you could easily get an edge in.

Caberfae even has a little Gore to it. They pulled a lift out 4 years ago and left a couple of lift towers

We skied 24 runs in about 3 hours. Meeting Stuart and talking about east coast skiing really has me looking forward to the NYSB meet up at Plattekill in January, looking forward to meeting more people from this web site.

Fantastic. Way to get out and get after it early early season. In Michigan, no less.
