Been in constant communication with my sis. She and her husband moved from Canandaigua Lake back to Colorado Springs last yr when her daughter my niece and Her hubby moved out their to establish her practice .
They both are in beautiful new homes a mile EAST of I-25, which divides the City and has just been shut down and is about 3 miles from where the fires are raging . The fire has caused evacuation in the neighborhood on the West ridge of I-25 where they used to live in 15 yrs ago when they were there the first time. She has sent me vids daily and the smoke and flames are incredible and the heat is in the hi 90's with alot of wind which only fuels the fire which apparently last nite JUMPED the fire break and now threatens the homes West of I25 AND the Air Force Academy which was evacuated along with 32,0000others this am .
My sis and her daughters families have been packed and ready to evacuate since Saturday evening . They will go to her sons home near Boulder if necessary BUT frankly their is ANOTHER fire raging in that region but NOT as close . Many firefighters and public officials have ALREADY lost their homes to this Waldo Canyon fire in Colorado Springs .
Our thoughts and prayers are with them all -- it is like a scene from a war flick out theere right now and dense smoke is billowing into her immediate hood from the winds -- Awful
