Ok gang we all know the big k is the king of making snow, opening early and closing late, but this tr is not only about that, but the customer service that makes them truly the awesome place that it is!
Killington announced publicly that they would open Sunday noon for pass holders only, this meant ALL pass holders including me as a midweek pass holder, which was the first sign things were aligning to be a good day. We arrived at 11 and we saw that skiers were already loading the K1 gondi. We booted up quickly and had no line for gondi. We passed a couple of people exiting that were covered in snow, and asking "how was it" was repeatedly answered "awesome!" As we got our passes scanned the lift attendants handed us a voucher for a free lunch!!! Yes, pass holder perks rule! With early season conditions the catwalk was being utilized for up and down hiking to the Northridge Triple, and the view on the walk down with fall foliage and snow was pretty damn nice! As we stepped into our skis the guns were roaring and the first run jitters were lively :) With the sun hiding behind big dark clouds the light was very flat and with the guns setup five between each lift tower visibility was limited to say the least! But the snow was amazingly soft and carveable! About 1pm the sun began to dominate the clouds and visibility improved greatly which made the snow that much better. As we came down to load the triple, the mountain ambassadors were handing out free cookies, bottled water and Vitamin Water in a variety of flavors, and this continued until we hiked out at 3. Oh yes and draft beers were $3.50🍺 Today dawned cold, dry and sunny, no guns fresh groom and the pace was dialed up intensely speed wise. The conditions were ripe for ripping and thankfully I got there early and enjoyed that immensely!! Bottom line is: Big K not only gives a great product they back it up with customer service. Isn't that what we all want? ⛄️🎿

Nice. Looks like fun and it sounds like Gore peeps were well represented.
Anyone who was there... if you had to guess... do you think K will stay opening through the weekend? Last night they were hedging on it on the conditions page. Today too: "8:59 am 10/20/15--It's a treat to have great skiing and riding in mid-October but there's no guarantee how long favorable weather will last; we suggest you get it while you can. Today you'll find us skiing and riding on 2 groomed runs in the North Ridge area or jibbing and jumping on 6 fresh features in the Reason Terrain Park. We plan to stay open for skiing and riding as long as conditions allow, but stay tuned right here for timely updates on our status - things can change rapidly this time of year. "
