Over Presidents' Day weekend I went to the ADKs. Skied the 10 km Lumberjack Scramble race in Tupper Lake on Saturday, skied Mount van Hoevenberg on Sunday. Mount van Ho: about 2 inches of hard packed powder over ice, around 30 km open. Very fast conditions. The further away from the lodge you went, the better it was.
The municipal trails at Tupper Lake Country Club were also on a thin base but are well worth checking out. Run by volunteers, the trails are narrower than van Ho, with a more old school feel. Also thin conditions at Tupper. Pray for snow.
