DEC issues avalanche advisory for High Peaks, 1/17/19

I'm not sure if this belongs in the Woodstove or Weather discussion but it is important:

"Due to current snow depths and conditions, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, and the abundant amount of snow forecasted for this weekend, DEC expects an increase in the number of recreational enthusiasts visiting the High Peaks to snowshoe, cross country ski, or simply enjoy the pristine surroundings," Commissioner Seggos said. "We are cautioning anyone planning to head to avalanche-prone terrain in the Adirondack High Peaks to be extremely careful and be prepared for avalanche conditions."

Full story here.

Play safe out there.

We seem to be looking at an epic event over this weekend all over the northeast.

This is a good year. Snow everywhere, east, west. A little too much at Taos. RIP.

Have a friend who is out at Taos this week , skiing has been great prior to yesterday's event . Talked to them last nite on FB and Fortunately, They were NOT  in the location of the slide when it hit , but were shaken by the tragedy .
