It's a little slice that doesn't see much sled traffic in comparison to Indian Lake, Tug, Old Forge etc... Just a lack of services. We groom the trails with drag groomers behind snowmobiles so you won't be find any track skiing so to speak..

Midweek you'll be surprised at how tiny bit of traffic there is.  It's amazing. Did see a few groups of fat bikers last year. Always stop and chat with them to encourage shared trails. The other good thing is that the trails are pretty tight and twisty, so the traffic (usually) isn't as fast as one would think. It's beautiful land for sure and great terrain for this whole xcd thing!

I'm find myself battling the same thing. While I love ripping sleds all night and day.  I also love being along and understand the tranquility of no motors and exhaust. That's what was so appealing last weekend, knowing that we wouldn't see a soul.  I also know how much work goes into maintaining the trails by the snowmobile clubs. They deserve to be there just as much as anyone else IMO
The day begins...  Your mountain awaits.

Here's a new perspective: snowmobile exhaust feeds trees, right?

I don't think "Protect the Adirondacks" would buy that, but technically there is some truth.

I used to be really into motorsports, and I'm a mechanical engineer who works in powertrain, so you'd think I'd be really into engines and stuff.  Like anything it can get old.  It had much more of a silver lining when I was younger and stupider, or didn't care.  It's like the Wizard of Oz.  It's a lot noise and smoke but when you look behind the curtain there is little substance.

Hey I drive all over the state using an IC engine with money I make from my job in the industry, so I'm no less to blame for the problems they cause.

I am glad there are lots of places you can go to find quiet and solitude, whatever the state may call them.
