Steve Cotts was on Rossi 7S
I thought they looked like S7's, but I wasn't expecting him to go with something that has such a radical shape.

Cotts' were skiing alpine that day with big grins. Fat and rockered helped make that snow more fun for sure.

As for the pomas, #2 only launches you a little at the start. Poma 1 has the mid-station launch. Kids probably do better than adults. My arms were sore the next day. I think 7-8 yr olds should have no problem, though I did see a small child get dragged. He didn't let go after the fall. People said they used to be much worse.

Not much of a launch anymore, but still a fun ride.  Little kids were ridding both poma's easily on Saturday.  I think we hooked the Powder Queen on Hickory.
Is it still the same lift? It used to be comical watching people get ready, then lifty releasing one and it launching someone about 3-4 ft. I saw more than one person decide they didn't want to ride it

Maybe they don't run them as fast as they used to. In this litigious age, that would make sense. Hickory will likely also court the non-expert skier, to expand business. New terrain will also include some less rad stuff.

Powderqueen ...thanks so much for a most excellent TR. Great pics and storytelling.

After I walked the hill last September, I started thinking about ways to help Hickory survive.

Kirby and I talked about this last Sunday at Gore. He said "Harv...  it's simple ... Hickory needs to sell lift tickets."

I think you've done your part.

Nice report and great pics!  It looks like you had a lot better snow at Hickory than I did at Plattekill.  I skied Hickory last year and it was very cool.  My wife got bucked off Poma 1 while it was taking her through the woods.  I had to go in and rescue her, quite a task considering she was trying to go UP the mountain.
