Ski Day 29: Jamesdeluxe and I decided to break up the drive from Jay Peak, with a night on Harvey Road. We arrived in North Creek around 8pm, had dinner at Basil and Wick's, and headed up the hill. In the morning, temps were close to freezing, and supposed to warm in the 40s. We wanted to Ski Hickory, but took our time getting down there, to let things soften.
Breakfast at Cafe SarahWhen we arrived the upper mountain was in the fog...
At 9am it was still just above freezing, so we stuck to the lower mountain groomers. There's something about corduroy that made from 100% natural snow. James and I both agreed it was the best cord we'd skied this year.
Shawn is like the Hickory Energizer Bunny. During the morning we saw him on the phone giving out trail conditions, operating Poma 2, and attacking bumps on Winfall. At 10 Shawn decided it was time to open Poma 2, so we headed up an over...
Ungroomed runs were still firm so we lapped Ridge Run in the from the summit...
By 11, we were skiing everywhere, groomed and ungroomed and it just got better as things softened...
ShawnPaul and the mystery ripper chickRun-of-the-day was dropping in to Paul's Peril, taking a line at far skier's left, and out on to Winfall below the headwall.
Paul's PerilHickory is so relaxed and friendly and fun. Great way to finish an incredible week of skiing.
