Hiker Drowns in Feldspar Brook

The body of a Canadian hiker who drowned in a raging Feldspar Brook while hiking in the High Peaks on Saturday has been recovered. State Police say that 34-year-old Julie Belanger of Montreal, Quebec, and a female hiking companion had been hiking Skylight and Grey mountains. A localized deluge of rain accompanied a line of violent storms that passed through the Adirondacks on Saturday and quickly raised the levels of local rivers and streams.

There would have only been two spots where this would have occurred, either the crossing just below Lake Tear where the herd path to Grey is or near Feldspar  leanto. My suspicion would be the latter. The Brook was probably too high to use the normal rock hopping crossing. Those drainage are very dangerous during a big storm.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

"The incident was not reported to DEC Forest Rangers until Sunday morning"

Including only this bit of info is quite odd. There had to be more that accompanied this

Does seem odd. Having a hard time imagining the scenario.
