Intense Hail Storm (Aug 13, 2010)

NWS Hazardous Weather Warnings aside... it started out as a pretty nice day.

We were going to head to the Adk museum, but the sun was out so we started walking but stayed closed to home....



After our morning hike... we started to hear thunder.  

At around 1:30 all hell was breaking loose, but it was an isolated cell...



On the scale of hail storms you'll see on YouTube it probably didn't rate. But it scared the crap out of me.

It was really coming down. Pics don't do this justice...



Maybe an inch of pea sized hail fell in about ten minutes...

Tell you one thing ... I was sure glad the women folk (and the car!) were down in Glens Falls shopping for hiking boots.

I've never seen anything like it. Sun's back out now...

I hope you broke out the boards. It looks like there is enough frozen precip to slide on.

Last year a Tstorm went thru Westchester and dropped 2ft of Hail. They had to take out the plows to clear the roads.
