Spoke w DJ in LP. He flies a plane for scenic tours and sky diving and said foliage season ended early this year due to high winds and rain taking the leaves of the trees early.
We are near peak here, though this crappy weather may be ending our peak sooner than later as well.
I think because of all the evergreen trees in the Adks, the foliage isn't as dramatic as it is here (not that the scenery there isn't dramatic...just from a color perspective). We also have a lot of red maples that really enrich the ambers and yellows of the oaks and birch.
Here in North Creek, the lower elevations from 2000' down are past peak for colors but there are many leaves still up. It looks like we will have a great weather weekend, so get up here if you want to see some colors.
