Killington 11/11/11

This post was updated on .
My dad (Zach), my younger sister and I made the trip up to Killington on friday, skeptical of the conditions and trails open. To be honest, I didnt care what was open, I just wanted to ski.

The welcome sign

We arrived in the parking lot at about 10:30, after making the drive over from Gore. There was a good bit of cars in the parking lot, mostly Vermont locals, and out of state cars (Mass, NJ, CT.)

We boarded the K-1 Gondola and arrived to a snowy, Killington Peak. Guns were roaring on Great Northern all the way down to the bottom of the North Ridge Triple (only the upper section of Great Northern was open).

The Reason Terrain Park was full of skiers and riders hiking the 6 features they had set up. Rime had snowmaking top to bottom and was groomed flat,

On the other hand, Upper East Fall had snowmaking top to bottom but was bumped up with big moguls.

NICE TR NZ.  (What ARE we supposed to call you for short?)

Looks like a nice day to me. It's always ads something when it snows.

How much total terrain is open? East Fall, Rime, part of Great Northern?

NZ is fine Harv.
When we were there Great Northern was open to where is meets Rime. East Fall, The Reason Terrain Park, and Rime are all open. However, Killington says that they have groomed East Fall, which was bumped up, and that snowmaking is in progress on Upper Double Dipper and on Downdraft.
On the down side, you still have to hike back up the Walkway to the top of the K-1 Gondola from the top of the North Ridge Triple.
