I'm still amazed that plastic boots out of the box (t4s) flex easier than a new pair of Merrill Doubles for like 2 years.

NNN BC makes a lot of sense and is highly under-rated by the BC touring crowd. Good technique can overcome most of the drawbacks of lighter gear anyway. If I wasn't so heavily invested in 75 mm gear, I would consider switching. If I had to start from scratch, I would go with NNN BC for schwacking around, then NTN for resort tele. Those Alpina Alaskas are nice looking boots.
