I hope they were smart enough to order towers that can support a quad chair.

the existing machinery can't support a quad chair so I'm sure orda didn't pay a dime more than they had to

Do you think they really need a quad?  I've never had to wait at that lift.  Heck, you don't even have to slow down... just ski right up to the loading zone.

I have not waited much there either, it would just simplify things. A quad (or the ORDA favorite triple) would be more stable in high winds, they might be able to run it faster than the existing double, there would be less labor involved and maint might be easier. Throw in a midstation for comps and kill 2 lifts with one lift.

Actually, replacing the existing Mountain Run and Little Whiteface lifts with a single quad or triple would be the worst thing they could do on windy days. It's very common that they can run the Freeway lift and the Mountain Run lift because they're shielded from the winds. If they only had the one chair going to the top of Little Whiteface, they probably wouldn't be able to run it any time the Gondola was on a wind hold.

There are still no chairs on the LWF chair and no one was working on it last weekend.  I hope this gets open before xmas.  It still has to get load tested too.

i just checked the web cam and no one is working on it currently

My family and I rode the gondola with a technician from Dopplemayr on Saturday. He was working on the towers.

Re: Little WF Double Chair

this is great news

Harv had been told about a month ago that LWF would be ready for the start of the season but I said then that we would be lucky to have it for xmas and it looks like that is what is going to happen

it will take at least another few weeks to get the lift load tested and certified i think

the new and improved LWF was spinning yesterday but not open for use

it would have been really nice to have Sunday because below that lift it was really sticky but the top was really nice skiing snow

It was great to see the crew working hard on the double on Sat 12/3.  They were carrying the chairs over and hanging them.  On Sunday it looked like they are nearly done.  It is very good to see the chairs back.

Webcam shows the load test going on right now!!!

Also some nice shots on the Facebook page of snowmaking on Lower Northway. Conditions report shows snowmaking on Essex. It may turn out to be a decent weekend!!!
