MTB Trails near Outer Banks, NC?

Anyone ridden bikes in the outer banks?  Any trails that aren't paved down there?  I'm going down there for a week in July with wifes family and going to bring my 29er hardtail.  Hoping to find something to ride besides miles of paved bikepath.

I believe were staying in Hatteras area.  I don't know much about the outer banks.

Nothing  on the coastal plain...

take a kiting lesson or drive to Raleigh..

the outer banks rock...go fishing / windsurf/kite or take a hang guiding lesson in Kitty Hawk

I'll probably still bring the bike and log some flatland and use it to explore vs the car.

Will otherewise be planning ot do a bunch of fishing, another regular hobby of mine.

I live at the Jersey Shore (not to be confused with the MTV show, Jersey Shore, which depicts several NY'ers crowding our beaches!!!), so I'll sort of be going from one beach tourist area to another, but I know it's a bit different down there.  We do have some nice beaches and great fishing near me tho.
