The description USA Today says about Taos has nothing to do with why it's a guy's trip IMO, unless you're into Pueblo culture. It is a nice quaint town and 'The Bean' (if it's still there) serves a mean coffee and breakfast. Mountain is very good, but snow sometimes is scarce. Very cool part of the world. There are also some other cool mountains in the vicinity like Angels Fire.
Hunter being number 9 is too funny, especially for an article that ranks resorts globally. If they think it rocks now, they should have seen it in the 1990's. I've got pictures from 20 years ago that show HVI and the original Slopes at about 150% of their legal fire code occupancy capacity.
