I was invited (invited myself, maybe) to stay up at the Adirondack Lodge in Old Forge for Moosefest with the Sacandaga Outdoor Center crew this weekend. It was a good time. Most of the photos speak for themselves. There are a few more photos on other cameras, I'll add in the better ones (ya know, the ones with me..) as they show up. These are all from Agers Falls on the Bottom Moose.
This is Caleb, the 15 year old from Gansevoort. Yes, this is a trick. It's called a Freewheel. He's doing a 180° off of the waterfall.
Open boat craziness.
A drunk stop in Indian Lake to grab my dry pants ended up with us grabbing a raft, too.
The NRS guy was "nice" enough to let us use his pump, because ours drew about 1000W and we only had a 300W inverter.
And he was giving away free chili.
I didn't wanna do it. I was forced into it. They handed me a beer. "Take this" they said. "It will help your hangover" they said.
No turning back now.
Lets get a better look at those faces...
Nailed it.
Round two
Do a wheelie!
Many of the Whitewater Challenger's guides scouting the line. They were kind enough to take me down the rest of the river.
Hang on!
You had one job!
The Adirondack Lodge has a few regular visitors. They like apples.
Couldn't tell ya... we never tried without doing it, although it wasn't exactly intentional. But no one fell out either time I ran it. The third time when I wasn't guiding we had a swimmer, though.
Another note- since the boat isn't exactly attached to us like in a Kayak, it pretty much fell away from us, which we then fell back into.
