Earthquakes in India, Canada and Central America today. Sure seems to be alot of quakes these days...." Earthquakes in diverse places "
Anybody ever wonder if pumping billions of barrels of oil out of the earth has any effect on Earth's structural integrity or rotational balance? Earth spins at 1000 mph. Perhaps the fluidity of the oceans counters - BUT
Don't say it couldn't happen. I saw on Jeopardy that China's Three Gorges dam impounded so much water that the sheer weight of it shifted the earth's axis a smidge.
Kinda disconcerting, eh? The locals around that dam swear it's causing many local and ongoing quakes and landslides that did not happen before.
