I didn't get to ski the whole trail system at Mount van Hoevenberg this weekend, but what I did ski was great. Intermittent snow fell on the four or five inches of base. Packed, greasy snow, very close to "hero snow" conditions. While the entire trail system was open, there were some thin spots. The base of Russian Hill was was quite thin, maybe an inch of packed powder over ice. There was a big freeze/thaw spot on the climb up to the timing hut on Ladies' 5 km. However, you were fine to bring out good skis.
