For those who value a good ride in the winter even when the roads are dry - check out Vredestein snow tires. My favorite snow tires yet short of all out off road which almost none of us really need. Difficult to find, but I buy them from EuroTire - look them up on line. They are located in NJ. last time I bought they charged me $10- each to send via UPS. If you have a good relationship with a mechanic -ship them right to the shop. Eurotire will put your name on the label.
I've driven on Nokian Hakas - great in the snow
Gislaved - really great in the snow at a great price
Blizzak's - good in the snow, but short tread life
For those who lack storage room - you can buy tire hangers to mount on the wall of you garage. Check Griot's Garage as a source.
