100% open.  HSQ's Outpost and LPT open and hardly anyone here.  Where are you?

Skiing windblown pow on sides of trails and going to try some woods after lunch.
I've lived in New York my entire life.

At first I laughed at how detailed these loading instructions are but then I decided they're actually awesome...

WHOAH.

Lots of snow. Great conditions. I don't think they ran the Outpost Chair until this morning. We started on that and had a blast. Great powder and packed powder all day.

Such a great place.  I’m disappointed K doesn’t do more with it particularly make more snow.  Probably good it never got connected as that would likely ruin it.

To do great marketing you need a good product and a compelling story.

You always ask, is your story or message:

Unique
Believeable
Deliverable
Desirable

Hello NYSBers. Wondering if anyone would be willing to write a profile of Pico for the directory:

https://nyskiblog.com/directory/vermont-ski-areas/pico-mountain/

If you click around the rest of VT you can see what has been done for the other mountain. Most but not all are done:

https://nyskiblog.com/directory/vermont-ski-areas/

(If someone like say Super Ski Mom does it, we could include a backlink to her website in the byline.)

Re: Pico Conditions

Very nice conditions at Pico yesterday. I think everything was open (except the trail for racing, which I ended up on accidentally).

I thought the base at Pico could be a model for resort development balancing old school (no development) and new (over development).

Great! Heading there Sunday if the winds don't shut it down.

Always love Pico. Even though it's smaller, always feel it ski's pretty big when everything is open.

New Water Source at Pico Mountain Approved; Major Snowmaking Upgrades Underway

Largest Investment in Pico Mountain Over Last 20 Years; Installation to Begin Immediately

KILLINGTON, VT. (September 20, 2019) – Vermont’s Pico Mountain, part of the POWDR adventure lifestyle company, announced today the Land Use Permit has been approved as part of major upgrades to its snowmaking system. Starting in the 2019-20 season guests will experience a better, more consistent and more reliable snow surface.

This permit specifically authorizes the provision of supplemental water to the Pico snowmaking system from the Killington snowmaking system via an above ground 8,000 foot, 8 inch pipeline, existing snowmaking pipeline upgrades/replacement at Pico, and the re-location of Killington's existing Ottauquechee River Intake.

– District Environmental Commission

Pico will increase the frequency at which it is able to make snow by tapping a new source of water. “Thanks to the momentous effort put forth by our environmental consultant, VHB, and mountain operations team over the last three years, we will be able to provide a better guest experience at Pico,” says Jeff Temple, director of mountain operations. “Rather than relying exclusively on the streams as we do now, we will build a 16,850 foot pipeline to source water from Killington.”

Additional improvements to Pico’s snowmaking system, which are already in progress, include the installation of more than 4,000 feet of new snowmaking pipe and the replacement of 5,460 feet of existing snowmaking pipe. This spring,  the Pico primary pump House will undergo a complete overhaul with the addition of three new pumps and a new control system, completing this two-phase snowmaking improvement project. Pico’s snowmaking upgrades will enable the resort to recover from inclement weather at a much faster rate.

Re: Pico Conditions

More proof that Killington knows their business better then anybody. Pico has some really old lifts and other infrastructure that’s showing its age but they’re still able to see the real priority is snowmaking. This is a good move.

If it were me, my next move would be to put some lights up at Pico. Vermont needs more night skiing.
