A farewell to the troops after 12 posts?
There are 180 members in the Forum.  Around 65 of those have a dozen or more posts, so he's in roughly the upper third.  He gave it a shot for a month, participated pretty actively and positively during that time (more posts than you for August in fact).  Looks to me like he gave this group a pretty fair shot.  Too bad for the Forum.

I've never met dmc, but I've spent enough time in ski forums to have read some of his posts.  The guy has skied on several continents.  He's got a real breadth of ski experience that could have added a lot here.

While dmc may have overreacted to the comments made, I understand his reaction. Judging large groups of people on admittedly limited experience is prejudice. In my opinion, the ugliness is in the anger behind some of those statements, not in the town Tannersville or people who ski Hunter.

I've had my battles of words with Benny and Snowballs several times but i always read there posts and they are well thought out though i don't always agree with them.  I think that part of the forum experience is giving each other some sh!t like we all were good friends sitting at a bar discussing skiing.  You need to have a thick skin.

I've only skied Hunter maybe 5 days but I agree with Benny its the icy as heck and as a WF skier i know something about ice.  I didn't know they only got 80 inches per year but that makes given the ice.  The patrons are the rudest and most unsafe skiers  and riders I've ever seen.  The folks that patronize the place seem to all have very thin skins and hot tempers.  DMC fits into the mold.  Like i said before glad they don't venture further north.

Maybe DMC can start another forum about the Huntah experience with catagories such as what drinks get you the most bombed while skiing.
A true measure of a person's intelligence is how much they agree with you.

You and Benny don't no shit about DMC....just sayin

The dude is far from thinned skin

My guess is he left this conversation just so he wouldn't start slappin' wankers like you and Benny around.

I'm also gonna guess U2 are "lunch packers", I'd rather party in the bar w/DMC than fight for my brown bag spot with all the other maroons.

I love it. A British lower class insult directed towards me, a second generation New Jersey bred half breed Polak. God Bless America and the internet it supports.

Benny, no need to direct anything at you. You do a good enough job on your own.

The way we do it at a real mountain is ski our butts off and then hit the bar once the lifts close.  That you think its ok to get drunk and then ski proves my point about Huntah skiers being unsafe and rude. Please keep skiing at the Bronx on a hill side and don't venture farther north.

The dude pretty much flipped. I don't name call, finger point, quit the forum, and delete my posts every time someone say Gore has flat spots or calls me a "gaper". Suck it up and get a thicker skin.

If not enjoying Hunter makes me a "gaper", so be it. Shorter lift line for DMC, right?

(Disclaimer - there is no anger behind this statement or any of my previous statements.)

I probably over reacted too. I was thinking about the lower end of gene pool comment.  I thought it had a condescending tone. I've definitely been to mountains where I didn't feel like I fit in, but I still had a great time.  Maybe people were looking down at me. I'm too clueless to notice. Hey it's skiing and I can't remember not having fun skiing, regardless of where I was.

Still, seems a tad droll. Well beyond my passive, unassertive, normally shy and timid nature.
