Yeah, I guess commitment = hardcore. I wasn’t trying to be a jerk by asking the question. It just bugs me when people try to put others into categories based on their own perceptions.

Here's MRG's take on why Tremblant wins these things:

"MRG Kills Ski Magazine Resort Rankings

Along with cooler temps and early snows Autumn also brings the annual ski publications resort rankings. Generally good old Mad River Glen does pretty darn well, but this year we really cleaned up. In the most recent issue of Ski Magazine Mad River Glen won more individual categories than any other "resort"(5) except Mt. Tremblant.  "The Skier's Mountain" grabbed top honors for Challenging Terrain, Terrain Variety, Character and (perhaps most impressive) Overall Satisfaction!  FYI we also 2nd place in the Value category. Thanks to the readers of Ski Magazine for recognizing our little slice of heaven.  And congratulations to our friends up nord at Mt. Tremblant for capturing top honors for Lodging, On-Mountain Food, Dining, Service and Digital Programs (whatever the heck that is). we appreciate that they leave the skiing aspect of skiing to us."

OK so I see this review every time I go to the bathroom.  I get Ski Magazine( subscriber since 1978 but have been trying to end it for the last three or four...they still send it to me for free) but I am not a Ski Magazine skier.  I got my Mad River Glen 2011-2012 mountain guide and I think it is a much better read than the latest SKI.  My girls are both awesome skiers (don't really like a whole issue that is geared toward family skiing), one is an instructor and the other a racer and when I exposed them to MRG (it was an epic POW day) they both agreed it is the best place they ever skied in the East.  So my point is...if you are number one in Challenge, Variety  and overall satisfaction...wouldn't that be the number one ski area in the east?...not even in the top ten...it kills me that on mountain food is more important than overall satisfaction.
Come on cold weather, I need to ski!!!
P.S. Skiing Magazine was my choice until Bonnier ruined it by going interactive...Can anyone suggest a good ski magazine (besides Powder)?
