To me the Adirondacks are amazing. While the Park is rightly considered huge — bigger than 2 or 3 national parks combined — I find the scale to be quite small. Pharoah Lakes Wilderness packs a ton of ponds and peaks into 64,000 acres.
Rock Pond is a perfect example. With a short paddle and a mile portage you can being paddling in a beautiful spot, that oddly, is rarely "crowded."
