SIA Numbers: Resort skiing down, tele up.

Not really a surprise, but interesting in some ways. From Skiing Business:

http://skiingbusiness.com/13995/newswire/alpine-skiing-participation-hits-5-year-low/

"The number of people skiing was down for the 11/12 season compared to the 10/11 season. Considering last season got off to a late start, and the snowfall totals were well below average except in the Pacific Northwest, this is not an unexpected result."

I'd like to see the numbers farther back, pre-recession.

I would also like to now what the +/- error is in the survey. If it is +/- 5% then the differences from year to year are really not that signifigant in some of the categories. I am sure last year's bad snow season in the mountains coupled with minimal snow here in the metro areas was the main reason for the decline. Having a line for freestyle seems odd to me. I wonder how freestyle is defined.
