Saranac Lake grant

I’m a bit confused as to what they actually going to accomplish.  Sounds like 5m goes to pay off debt of Hotel Saranac.  

Your guys thoughts if this is worth 10m of our tax $.

I've always liked Saranac Lake and I think $10 million can do a lot of good.

A bit hypocritical to celebrate Lake Placid, a town propped up by ORDA's state dollars, while shitting on other towns that get state dollars, but you seem to be on a roll lately.

I not for or against this for SL though I’m generally skeptical of most things  grandstanding Gov Potus wannabe is spending our tax dollars on Matt.

I’m not there enough to say they have a parking issue big enough to justify a garage though my guess would be probably not.  From the comments on the news papers site moving The pendragon is also of questionable merit.  Maybe it makes for justifying the garage???

Any SL locals have thoughts on this?

As for parking, the one time I went to the Ice Festival in SR finding parking was a PITA.  Even when I've stopped in on days when the town is relatively empty, it takes more thought than some other tourist towns in New England to figure out where to park for a few hours.

I think Bakers Mills should win it next year, $5M would go a long way in renovating the J&J.
