Secret Caverns (Cobleskill) to North Creek

We are visiting Gore Mountain area this weekend. Plan is stop by Secret Caverns on Friday afternoon.

I want to get to Gore from Cobleskill in shortest time, would it be wise to follow Google Maps and take Rt. 30 to Rt. 8, or just get back to Northway?
