On our way to the annual Hannes Schneider Meister Cup at Cranmore, NH for the weekend, we stopped at Suicide Six. Ticket prices were excellent from Liftopia - $27 for ticket which included $10 sit down lunch voucher. I hadn't skied at this area for over 10 years so was good to get back.
The area is located in Pomfret, VT just outside of Woodstock. It has a vertical of about 610', about 2 dozen trails, 2 double chairs and a beginner's J-bar. The summit lift goes right up the middle of the area and is only about a 4 minute ride, so you can get a lot of runs and vertical in, more than you'd think. The area is very historic as it was founded by Bunny Bertram who was instrumental in bringing about lift served skiing in VT.
As you face the area from the parking lot, only about half the trails are visible - some nice albeit short cruisers are not visible to the right, nor is the backside Gully Slope, or some of the easier runs off the shorter double.
Perley's Peril is one of those interesting cruisers, with a short, steep drop that then mellows out:
The Gully off the back used to be a different rope tow area, merged into Suicide Six
The Face is a steep, wide open signature slope
A view looking down The Face
And the 1600' double serves some easier terrain, but easier terrain that is still quite interesting with a lot of quick dips and turns
There are also some narrower mogul runs, a mile long beginner trail, and a neat narrow steep run called Crystal.
Worth a shot if you are passing through - and midweek ticket prices are cheap on Liftopia.
