Just saying that the bottom of the ski area is pretty flat (and without snow) and it would be a long walk before reaching skiable snow passed the midstation.
Ok, but the walk really would not be that long. I walk my dog up the Stag Brooke trail all the time, when that runs out we usually go up Lower Valley the last couple hundred meters before we turn around at the lodge. Usually takes about 40-45 minutes not pushing.

If it comes down to having to walk, wouldn't it be much easier to walk on the nice even surface of the Toll road vs the uneven surface of the ski trails? Maybe Face has some flat surfaced trails, but usually the unevenness of a trail is harder to walk than asphalt.

Yes. Either way we were coming down (Face or Toll Road), we would've gone up the toll road. I'd rather go up a longer run with a shallow, consistent pitch that a steep, variable one (With skis on my back at least).

Some snow fell on Whiteface this weekend, but not as much last year. Keeping my fingers crossed for October.

MadPat's Whiteface TR from last October 18, 2010.
