Not a huge fan of Altus/Acera shifty stuff. I usually like to be at at least Deore level. Don't love the Suntour forks either. But if you're only riding bike paths, dirt roads and occasional easy singletrack, it's probably fine.

If buying used, there are better deals out there. If buying new, tough to beat the component package of the direct to buyer offerings (bikesdirect, airborne, etc.), but obviously, there are the downsides of ordering off of the internet.

OK thanks - I know I've been asking alot of questions - just been doing alot of research, and tend to really keep digging for info when making a large purchase.


Visited LBS - best deal was a 2014 trek X_Cal 8 @ $849+tax......

Leaning towards BD if my continued craigs search doesn't produce anything.....
