I guarantee you that won't be happening. I'll probably just go to the bar in the casino, or one of the ones in the "village". I will tell you guys how much money I lose (or win) at the casino.

Sustained vert is more important to a more expert level skier. The Skyship gondola full runs are at least 50% flat. It's not worth the effort or time imo. 1600 vert of quality is greater than 2400 vt quantity when it's a whole lot of flat.
Since you are so into numbers Sno you should know better than to waste money gambling, the nude bar option is a much better investment for a quality experience and $ well spent. Unless you are gay, then ya, it would be a total waste of time. |

The run from the top of Gore (2100 feet) to the main base has a huge flat spot cutting it in half where you have to push with your poles to ski. It also requires two separate lifts separatated by a crowded icy run. The run to Skyeship Base is by no means steep, but one can carry speed the entire way and not skate.

For expert skiers the Skyship gondola skiing is a novelty and it's not a lift for regular hot lapping. Keep skiing, you will get there one day. |

Since we're all giving back of the envelope evaluations on ski areas, I like Vert. I'll defend it, but yeah, it isn't the end all.
Vert + % expert terrain * inches a year = how much I want to ski there. I really don't think I look at woods the same way as most people. I showed a buddy some trees I liked and he told me the line was tighter than a tic's asshole. So I just don't care about mapped glades, which are bump runs. But if it's steep, duct tape fixes a lot of stuff and branches mostly just glance off the helmet anyway. |

You're not wrong. It's a great run to take my kid down though, takes forever and there's no actual poling, just some slow spots. Back when the sunrise base area was still there, though, that was BS. Might as well have been a cross country tour to get out there.

that's how I remember it. It's great for families and low level intermediates or beginners but it's just one example how numbers don't represent quality skiing or at least for more advanced skiers. Basically I'm saying that you shouldn't be so hung up on numbers. Big numbers don't necessarily equate to big skiing. If you want big skiing Sno go to Jackson or Snowbird and get your learn on or just ski top to bottoms at Plattekill and MRG or Stowe on natural snow terrain. Turn em and burn em! |
I don't think anyone really laps the Skyeship Gondola at Killington. I usually park there when it's open and do the full run at the end of the day. That could be a case to not make it the true up vertical. However, I don't think anyone laps the Gore Lower Cloud Traverse either, while some people do lap the run off the gondola.
