Two Cons Escape from Dannemora

It seemed like the trooper reporting on the DNA find was not willing to be pinned down on whether or not there was evidence of two.

One thing is for sure this is a big break. If these guys are within 20 miles of Dannemora after 10 days, they don't have a car, so unless one is reported stolen, they are in the area.

Note to self:  Next time you break out of a maximum security prison.....do it commando!

Drove in that area today on my way to a quarry in Bangor, NY. Big police presence.

The moron shot at a camper and got found.  Sounds like suicide by cop at the end.

I have a hard time thinking they were still together though so finding the other one quickly may not happen

We were in the area yesterday on our way back from Cape Cod when all hell broke loose !!! We were approaching Malone on backroad shortcuts i know at 4:45 when all of a sudden we see cop cars scrambling like a sumbitch , christmas lites flashing and sirens blaring . We detoured and went home a different way , must have seen 30 cop cars between Malone and O burg.

Got on the smart phone while in the car  and found out they had just iced Matt .My bet is that sumbitch iced Sweat and decided to go out in a blaze of glory , IF not my back up wager is Sweat will ice himself .

A matter of time , NOW the focus is how screwed up the operational  management of that prison is and the laxity of the guards and the general need to refocus how correctional services in a MAXPEN must change to prevent any further screwups  like this major break ! NYSDOCCS and NYSCOPBA have much ro answer for this situation imho .

So happy this is over

I really feel for those that live in those communities majorly impacted.  Now they can get back to the normal ADK way of life

Very lucky it was the right guy, just think of what the fall out would be if he shot some common criminal, excessive force charges and all.

The North Country will sleep well tonite , Gov will have a press conference at 7 pm at the Upper Mtn Lodge at Titus Mtn ,

wonder if Titus will add. A few new trail names next season  as a result of this episode

No doubt there was going to be zero hesitation in the use of potentially deadly force to take down both of these guys.  I'd also bet my bottom dollar they were 110% sure they had the right guy before pulling the trigger, in both cases.  Glad it's over.

Given the massive manhunt, it is kind of amazing that Sweat was taken down by an officer on routine patrol:

I have driven through Constable many times over the years, it is a pretty sleepy place. Only a short hike to the border at Trout River and then 10 minutes by car to my brother's house in Quebec.
