Great time out at Vail!
Day 1 - April 12
It had snowed 7" the night before, so really no groomed conditions due to the new snow. We were staying in Lionshead, so rode that gondola up...quite fast. Skied into Game Creek, where we encountered the thickest fog imaginable. Combined with new snow, it was disorienting, especially considering I hadn't skied Vail in 12 years. We ended up going lower down the mountain until the fog lifted (so we could see) and then went back up.
Great conditions...super fast lifts everywhere...this ski area is massive and we only explored a portion of it. Went down China Bowl to Blue Sky Basin for one run....that's a long run from the top of Blue Sky!
Day 2 - April 13
Great weather...partly sunny, perfect temps (40's below, near 30 summit). Just about everything open, and more groomed trails for some high speed cruising.
Really great everywhere...in all lift pods. We could finally see more of the views due to no fog.
Particularly enjoyed Blue Ox (steep groomed cruiser), Dealer's Choice, the trails off the Avanti Express and Mountainside Express.
Had lunch at the Tenth...we splurged...including an awesome bacon sundae for dessert!
