Since I know that SOME of the Harvey Roaders are "of a certain age" I'll bet you-all might relate to this: Winter had better arrive soon. So, as we all know, one can end up following some odd paths on the Internet, particularly if you are a little ADHD. I stumbled across this short bit of entertainment this morning: Which, since I am about the same age as the little girls in that 70s clip, got me remembering the awesome GI Joe action figure I had as a kid. My favourite set up for Joe was the 10th Mountain Division Edition. He looked like this: A friend and I both had 10th Mtn Joes and would pretend that he was our hero Sylvain Saudan, Skier of the Impossible, or sometimes Jean-Claude Killy. We would climb up and send them careening down the huge snowbanks of suburban Montreal. Joe didn't turn much and always took some pretty wild falls. The skis didn't release and sometimes he would pop right out of his slippery plastic boots. I have no idea where that Joe is today but according to Vintage Snow, he is worth $175 if you have one gathering dust in the basement. With that in mind, I searched some more, thinking there might be some GI Joe ski video out there. Lo and behold, I found a gem. If it has been posted here before, I couldn't find it, so sit back and enjoy Gi Joe VS Ski Fun Ken Doll. Joe is clearly a cool character and Ken is a classic gaper party dude from the 80s. And is that Skipper or Barbie hangin' with Ken?

Here's a video of Sylvian Saudan off season training or Skiing on Stones as he put's it - I love the end where the interviewer says "you skied Mt. Fuji without snow. How was that?" Saudan - "One turn to the right, one turn to the left." Great answer!

ADK Keith got the same video I had lined up for this week's installment of Friday Night Video. Saudan turns 75 today.
A pioneer in "ski extreme". http://madpatski.wordpress.com/2011/09/23/friday-night-video-sylvain-saudan/ Sand skiing: reminds me that I should put my August 2005 Sand skiing TR up on Ski Mad World.

Hey, wait a minute. While I'm a wholehearted supporter of creative thread drift (seen here in fine form), think Saudan is a rockin' skier and have been sand skiing myself (at Sandbanks Park, even), no body has answered the fundamental question posed in the OP. Was that Skipper or Barbie?

Sorry I didn't have a sister and didn't know much about Barbie and Ken. Ask me about GI Joe. That GI came in the 70s, the one I had was clean-cut and white (ie. the late 60s version). I just found my old GI Joe Gemini capsule last week as I was cleaning out a lifetime of stuff at my mom's place.
